Tonight and tomorrow (Thursday), the Monsey community solemnly marks the fifth yahrtzeit of two beloved young men, Moshe Herzog A”H and Dovid Tzvi Schnebalg A”H, who were tragically killed in a devastating car accident while returning from Pennsylvania on Motzei Rosh Hashanah 5781 (2020). Moshe Herzog A”H, remembered as a dedicated volunteer with Chaverim of Rockland, Haverstraw EMS, and Faist EMS, displayed extraordinary courage during his final moments. Despite being trapped in the burning vehicle, he managed to use his radio to call for help, reporting that both he and Dovid Tzvi were trapped. It took emergency crews hours to extinguish the flames and extricate the victims from the wreckage.
Dovid Tzvi Schnebalg A”H, also a devoted EMT and volunteer, was known for his tireless service in saving lives and assisting others in need. His selfless commitment to helping others left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
As the community reflects on this heartbreaking tragedy five years later, their memories continue to inspire countless acts of chessed and volunteerism in Monsey and beyond.
