Multiple Firefighters Hospitalized After Responding to Hazardous Truck Fire at Rockland Green Facility In West Haverstraw

An emergency call came in at 10:20 AM this morning, reporting a truck fire at the Rockland Green Bowline/Haverstraw Transfer Station, located at 200 Beach Road in West Haverstraw. Several firefighters were subsequently transported to Westchester Medical Center following the hazardous incident, involving a truck carrying waste including gallons of pool chlorine water, which posed significant health risks.

The fire began with smoke emanating from the truck, leading to the firefighters inhaling chlorine chemicals. The situation quickly escalated, necessitating immediate medical attention for the affected personnel.

Sources tell Monsey Scoop that as of 12:30 PM, seven firefighters were transported to Westchester Medical Center by Haverstraw EMS, Stony Point EMS, and Rockland Paramedics. The firefighters involved in the incident are from the West Haverstraw Fire Department (Dept. 23) and the Thiells Fire Department (Dept. 26).
