Montefiore Nyack Hospital has once again been verified as a Level III Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT), reaffirming its commitment to delivering high-quality emergency care. The reverification follows a thorough evaluation under the ACS Trauma Verification, Review, and Consultation Program, which assesses hospitals on their trauma care capabilities, multidisciplinary staffing, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
“This designation ensures patients with critical injuries have access to lifesaving care close to home,” said Dr. Anthony Matejicka, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Montefiore Nyack. “Maintaining our Level III status is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our trauma team.”
Montefiore Nyack’s verification also designates it as an ACS Surgical Quality Partner, highlighting the hospital’s ongoing commitment to improving surgical care and patient outcomes. “Participation in ACS Quality Programs is a key measure of a hospital’s excellence,” noted ACS Executive Director Dr. Patricia Turner. “Montefiore Nyack has demonstrated its focus on best practices and self-improvement.”
Patients treated at ACS-verified trauma centers are shown to have better outcomes and a lower risk of mortality, underscoring the significance of this achievement.
