Montefiore Nyack Hospital has received special recognition for excellence in critical care after its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) earned a Silver-Level Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).
The Beacon Award for Excellence is considered a significant milestone on the path to exceptional patient care, honoring hospital units that demonstrate outstanding performance, leadership, and a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes.
In announcing the achievement, the hospital praised its ICU staff, stating: “Congratulations to our Critical Care Nursing Team on receiving a silver-level Beacon Award of Excellence for the Intensive Care Unit from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. This prestigious honor recognizes unit caregivers who successfully improve unit outcomes and align practices with AACN’s six Healthy Work Environment Standards: Skilled Communication, True Collaboration, Effective Decision Making, Appropriate Staffing, Meaningful Recognition, and Authentic Leadership.”
The hospital added that Beacon Award recipients are recognized for dynamic and outstanding performance across three key areas: patient outcomes, nursing workforce excellence, and a positive work environment.
