MONSEY: Ramapo Police Conduct Checkpoint at Route 59 and Augusta Avenue as Part of “No Empty Chair” Campaign

Ramapo Police are currently conducting a traffic safety checkpoint at the intersection of Route 59 and Augusta Avenue in Monsey as part of the department’s ongoing “No Empty Chair” campaign.

The checkpoint, which began around 10:00 a.m. Thursday, remains active and is focused on enforcing seatbelt use, distracted driving violations including cell phone use, and other traffic infractions.

Authorities say the initiative is aimed at reducing preventable accidents and promoting safer driving habits throughout the community, with the goal of ensuring every motorist and passenger arrives home safely.

Drivers traveling through the area should expect delays and are urged to proceed with caution and follow directions from officers on scene.

  1. What a terrible thing.
I know the Supreme Court has found these awful intrusions legal – but they are wrong. The right to free unmolested travel is a basic American right and ideal. To have the law come and stop you without probable cause is an affront to the ideals of this great country.
