MONSEY: Minor Fire Reported After Menorah Ignites Window Blinds on Old Nyack Turnpike

On the second night of Chanukah, Monday evening, a small fire broke out at a residence on Old Nyack Turnpike after window blinds ignited from a nearby menorah. A quick-thinking neighbor noticed smoke coming from the window and immediately extinguished the flames with water, preventing the fire from spreading.

The Monsey Fire Department responded promptly and confirmed that the situation was under control and the home was safe. Hillcrest Fire Department and Spring Valley Fire Department were initially dispatched but were canceled while en route after Monsey Fire Department arrived and handled the incident.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported and no damage was sustained.
