MONSEY: Live Wires Spark Fire, Prompt Temporary Road Closure on West Maple Avenue

At approximately 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, live electric wires caught fire and fell across West Maple Avenue near Viola Road in Monsey, prompting a swift response from the Monsey Fire Department and Ramapo Police.

As a safety measure, the roadway has been temporarily closed between Viola Road and Smolley Drive. Orange & Rockland crews are currently on the scene working to resolve the issue. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes until the area is deemed safe and the road is reopened.
