MONSEY: Gas Leak Reported at Shoppers Haven Construction Site On Main Street

Emergency personnel are on the scene of a major gas leak caused by construction work at the Shoppers Haven construction site on Main Street near Orchard Street.

The Monsey Fire Department was on the scene within 120 seconds of the initial call, arriving promptly with a fire truck to address the emergency. Ramapo Police also responded to secure the area and manage traffic.

Orange and Rockland Utilities are actively working to repair the damaged gas line, which is emitting a strong odor and poses a potential safety hazard. Authorities are urging residents and businesses in the vicinity to exercise caution and avoid the area until the situation is resolved.

TRAFFIC ALERT – MONSEY: Main Street is currently closed to traffic between Grove Street and Orchard Street due to the incident. The closure is expected to remain in effect for the next few hours as repairs are underway. Authorities are urging residents and commuters to plan alternate routes and avoid the area until further notice.
