The Monsey Fire Department held an intensive extrication training on Monday evening, focusing on advanced techniques including tunneling and vehicle stabilization, with guidance from experienced instructors Chief Frank Santore and Captain Mike Celano of Monmouth County.
The training highlighted “tunneling,” a critical rescue method in which firefighters work from the rear of a vehicle forward—commonly used when a car is overturned—to safely reach and remove trapped patients. Crews also practiced vehicle stabilization techniques to secure damaged vehicles during rescue operations.
Monsey Fire Department’s Field Communications Unit and RAC Unit were also on hand, ensuring a comprehensive, coordinated training exercise aimed at enhancing response capabilities in serious motor vehicle accidents.
