The Board of Fire Commissioners of Monsey Fire Department has issued a heartfelt commendation to the Monsey Fire Department members for their exemplary performance in emergency response and training. The letter highlighted the department’s consistent ability to deploy a fully-crewed truck or arrive on-scene within 2-3 minutes of being dispatched, placing them at the forefront in training metrics as well.
Commending the deep connection between the department members and the community, the Board noted that many firefighters live or work within the Fire District. “You have earned the respect and appreciation of the communities you serve,” the commissioners wrote, underscoring the integral role the firefighters play both professionally and voluntarily.
However, the accolades were tempered by concerns over ongoing harassment faced by the fire department personnel. Describing the perpetrators as a “small yet highly vocal contingent of rabble-rousers,” primarily from outside the district, the Board expressed distress over the instigation of hostility and dangerous confrontations. They firmly condemned these actions, stating that any form of harassment or intimidation is “wholly unacceptable.”
The Board, comprising Avigdor Mandel, Yanky Fliegman, Eli Spitzer, and Motty Neiman, expressed continued pride in the firefighters’ professionalism and dedication, particularly given the difficult circumstances. They closed their message by thanking the firefighters for their service and reaffirming their support during these challenging times.
