On Monday evening, January 12, the Monsey Fire Department, in conjunction with the Orange and Rockland Utilities Gas Division, hosted a hands-on Gas Utility Awareness and Mitigation training at the Monsey Fire Department headquarters on Grove Street.
The training brought together approximately 100 firefighters and included members of Monsey Fire Department (Dept. 7) along with mutual aid partners from the Spring Valley Fire Department (Dept. 17), Hillcrest Fire Department (Dept. 6), and South Spring Valley Fire Department (Dept. 25).
The class focused on real-world gas emergency recognition, safety procedures, and mitigation techniques, providing firefighters with critical tools to safely and effectively handle gas-related incidents in the field.
Following the training session, members from all participating departments remained on site to collaborate and discuss future joint training opportunities, further strengthening inter-agency cooperation and preparedness.

What a Kiddush Hashem, a department that invests in training together with neighboring departments so everyone gets better.
