The Eruv of Monsey released its weekly inspection report ahead of Shabbos Parshas Re’eh. Repair crews completed 14 repairs across the Eruv system, with eight issues affecting the kosher status of the Eruv requiring immediate attention. The remaining repairs were preventative upgrades designed to strengthen the system and reduce future maintenance needs.
Most sections of the Eruv were confirmed kosher following this week’s inspections.
In the Airmont Eruv, three repairs were completed. Crews cleared a branch tangled in the Eruv string along East Airmont Road near the New York State Thruway, removed branches touching the string on Hillside Avenue in Upper Saddle River, and replaced a broken PVC lechi at Plymouth Drive and Hampshire Hill Road. Officials noted that ongoing utility work along East Mahwah Road will require a final reinspection on Friday.
In Chestnut Ridge, crews repaired a loose wire along Red Schoolhouse Road. In the Spring Valley Rambam section, a newly installed utility pole along Route 45 that was pushing against the Eruv string was adjusted and corrected.
In Wesley Hills, crews replaced a damaged PVC lechi along Route 202 near Wilder Road after a utility pole was struck in a motor vehicle accident. In Hillcrest, a PVC lechi on East Eckerson Road that had been damaged after being hit by a vehicle was also replaced.
The only section currently awaiting additional work is the Monsey Rambam Eruv (Sh’lav 1). Crews repaired approximately 12 feet of damaged fencing along Route 306 behind a residence. However, near Suzanne Lake, one Eruv string remains down and a section of fence is still damaged. Those repairs are scheduled to be completed before Shabbos.
All other sections, including Suffern, Good Samaritan Hospital Rambam, Pearl River, Montebello, Monsey Rambam (Sh’lav 2), Spring Valley, Nanuet, New Hempstead, New City, and Haverstraw, were reported to be kosher following inspections.
Officials also noted that despite one checker and one repair crew member being on vacation this week, all inspections and scheduled repairs were completed without interruption after other trained volunteers stepped in to cover their responsibilities.
In addition to this week’s inspection work, maintenance crews completed more than 22 low-priority repairs and infrastructure upgrades throughout the Eruv system to improve long-term reliability and reduce future maintenance needs.
Eruv officials said the remaining repairs and rechecks are expected to be completed on Friday. Monsey Scoop will provide an update once the final status of the Eruv has been confirmed ahead of Shabbos.
