The Eruv of Monsey released its weekly inspection report ahead of Shabbos Parshas Korach, with inspectors identifying 23 issues throughout the Eruv system. According to the report, 19 of the issues were classified as not kosher and required immediate attention, while the remainder were lower-priority maintenance items.
Crews spent the week carrying out repairs across multiple sections of the Eruv, with additional work scheduled to continue through Friday.
In the Suffern Eruv, crews completed repairs along Woodland Drive, where a gud asik lechi required correction. In Airmont, seven repairs were completed, including the installation of three new PVC pipes following a utility pole replacement on Hampshire Hill Road. On Plymouth Drive at Hillside Avenue, crews permanently repaired an area that had only received a temporary fix last Friday, rebuilding the section with four new PVC pipes.
Four repairs were completed in the Chestnut Ridge Eruv. Along Route 45 near the New York State Thruway, crews trimmed branches and removed a wire that was pushing against the Eruv string.
In Pearl River, one issue remains outstanding. A hanging branch resting on the Eruv string in a wooded area had not yet been repaired as of Thursday evening.
The Montebello Eruv was reported to be in good standing. In the Monsey Rambam section, one repair was completed, while two additional repairs remain pending. Officials reported that a string in the Bates Drive area still requires repair, and a wire hanging on the Eruv string along North Saddle River Road also remains outstanding.
In Spring Valley, crews completed repairs near the intersection of Old Nyack Turnpike and South Pascack Road, where branches were cut back and a section of the Eruv entering the wooded area was repaired. The Spring Valley Rambam section, along with Nanuet, Wesley Hills, New Hempstead, and Haverstraw, were all reported to be kosher following inspections.
New City saw the largest concentration of repairs this week, with seven completed. Along West Clarkstown Road, crews repaired a wire crossing that had come down. Additional PVC replacements were completed at multiple locations on North Little Tor Road and along Route 45 near Route 202. Crews also corrected a section where the wire had been pushed out of alignment.
In Hillcrest, crews completed repairs on Alice Drive, including branch removal and straightening of the Eruv wire. In Haverstraw, following a utility pole replacement on Call Hollow Road, crews installed two new PVC pipes and cleared branches from around the Eruv string.
Officials noted that unusually strong winds on Thursday caused many branches to come into contact with Eruv strings and wires in locations that do not typically present problems. Those conditions and any resulting halachic concerns are expected to be reviewed during the Rabbanim conference Thursday night.
The Eruv organization stated that all remaining non-kosher issues are expected to be addressed on Friday. Monsey Scoop will provide an update once all repairs have been completed and the final status of the Eruv is confirmed ahead of Shabbos.
