Monsey Eruv Weekly Inspection Report — Parshas Emor, Notice Issued for Montebello Area

The Eruv of Monsey released its weekly inspection report ahead of Shabbos Parshas Emor, detailing extensive maintenance and repair work carried out across multiple sections of the Eruv.

According to the report, a total of 29 issues were identified this week. Of those, 15 were classified as not kosher and required immediate repair, seven were categorized as high-priority items, and the remaining issues were medium- or low-priority upgrades. All critical repairs were addressed prior to Shabbos.

In the Suffern Eruv, crews removed a large tree branch along Campbell Avenue that was encroaching on the cable wire. At the Good Samaritan Hospital Rambam Eruv (Sh’lav 5), a snapped string was repaired. In Airmont, along Eros Drive, a damaged PVC pipe was replaced.

In Chestnut Ridge, crews repaired a section of perimeter fencing along De Salvo Court near the Garden State Parkway. In Pearl River, five issues were addressed along West Washington Avenue and South Highland Avenue, including clearing branches at three points of contact and repairing two separated PVC components. Additional work was completed near Route 306 by the Ohr Somayach property, where a crossing string interfering with the main wire was adjusted.

The Montebello Eruv was reported to be in good condition this week. In the Monsey Rambam (Sh’lav 1), crews repaired fence damage on Eckerson Road caused by a lumber delivery truck and installed a new pole and string. Additional adjustments were made near Route 306 to correct a crossing string that had been pushing against the wire. In the Monsey Rambam (Sh’lav 2), a large gap at the bottom of a fence along Viola Road was repaired.

Spring Valley, including the Rambam (Sh’lav 3), and Nanuet (Sh’lav 4) sections were reported to be in good standing. In Wesley Hills, branches pushing against the Eruv string along Route 202 were cut and cleared.

In New Hempstead, along Viola Road, a PVC pipe that was not properly centered beneath the wire was adjusted and secured. In New City, crews addressed aging infrastructure along East Eckerson Road, where replacement of older zigzagging PVC was recommended, and cleared branches at three locations along South Mountain Road.

In Hillcrest, two locations along Eckerson Road required adjustment where PVC pipes were not centered beneath the wire; both were corrected. The Haverstraw section was reported to be in good condition.

As part of ongoing weekly work, crews completed a full inspection of the New York State Thruway, both northbound and southbound. While no breaches rendering the Eruv not kosher were identified, multiple areas with tree and branch interference were addressed, and several damaged fence sections were repaired or replaced.

Officials also noted that three Eruv checkers have completed their detailed inspection zones and will begin new areas next week as part of the rotating inspection schedule.

Community Notice: Residents planning to be in the Montebello area this weekend are reminded that while Grandview Avenue is within the Eruv boundaries, Route 202 remains outside the Eruv. The public is encouraged to plan accordingly to ensure compliance. The updated Eruv map is available at eiruvofmonsey.org.

Eruv officials confirmed that all necessary repairs were completed ahead of Shabbos, ensuring the Eruv remains fully operational for the community.
