Monsey Eruv Weekly Inspection Report — Parashas Va’eira

The Eruv of Monsey was fully inspected this week, with checkers logging a total of six issues into the monitoring system. According to the weekly report, three of the issues affected kosher status, while the remaining items were classified as upgrades. All identified issues were repaired before Shabbos.

In the Montebello section, crews completed multiple repairs along Route 202 after a truck damaged a PVC lechi attached to a utility pole. A second PVC lechi on the same roadway was found misaligned from the wire and was replaced and reset. On Spook Rock Road, a PVC lechi that had shifted out from beneath the wire was also replaced.

Within the Monsey section, a tree branch along Viola Road that had pushed the Eruv wire out of alignment was cleared, restoring the line to proper position.

In the Spring Valley Rambam section, along Chestnut Ridge Road, a damaged cap caused the Eruv string to shift. Crews installed a new cap to secure the line. In the New City section, on New Hampstead Road, a cable that had detached from the top of a PVC lechi was reinstalled under a different wire to provide greater stability.

The report also highlighted significant Eruv infrastructure upgrades following the completion of major construction projects. Along Route 306 near Meron Road and Kearsing Parkway, the completion of retaining walls and fencing allowed the Eruv team to install five new 3-inch by 21-foot galvanized metal posts. This improvement relocates the Eruv line to the street front, enhancing visibility and structural integrity while replacing older lines that previously ran through private backyards.

In Spring Valley, at Union Road and Aselin Drive, construction was also finalized. The Eruv team installed four new galvanized posts, substantially strengthening the Eruv in that area and reducing the likelihood of future repairs.

A major update was also announced for the community with the establishment of a new Rambam Eruv section serving the Weiner Drive, Crest, and Calvert areas. This section includes a key hiddur, allowing it to function without requiring Sechiras Reshus, eliminating the need for formal rental of space.

Eruv officials confirmed that the entire Eruv was checked this week and all reported issues were successfully addressed ahead of Shabbos.
