Monsey Eruv Weekly Inspection Report — Parashas Ki Sisa

The Eruv of Monsey released its weekly inspection report ahead of Shabbos Parshas Ki Sisa, detailing extensive repairs carried out despite a demanding schedule following Purim and difficult weather conditions, including heavy rain and limited visibility.

According to the report, the Eruv was fully inspected this week, with a total of 24 issues identified and logged into the monitoring system. Of those, 16 were classified as not kosher and required immediate repair, three were categorized as high-priority upgrades, and five were listed as medium- or low-priority maintenance items.

In the Suffern Eruv section, crews addressed two issues, clearing a branch that was making contact with the Eruv string along Vista Way and untangling a string caught in cable wiring on Hemion Road.

In the Montebello section along Route 202 between Coe Farm Road and Grandview Avenue, four issues were repaired. Crews untangled two crossing wires, cleared tree branches pushing against the Eruv line, and replaced a damaged PVC attachment where the top had shifted out of alignment.

The Wesley Hills section along Route 202 required the most extensive work this week. After a vehicle struck a utility pole earlier in the week, crews installed a completely new Eruv line at the location of the replacement pole. Additional repairs included fixing three lechis with significant ground gaps, untangling a caught wire, and realigning two PVC lechis to ensure proper positioning beneath the Eruv wire.

In the Hillcrest section, inspectors identified broken fencing running along the New York State Thruway that required repair.

In Pearl River, crews repaired broken PVC lechis along Summit Road near the Spring Valley corner. On Loescher Lane, branches pulling down the Eruv string were trimmed at two locations, and one snapped string was repaired.

In the Upper Saddle River, New Jersey and Airmont sections, crews cleared branch obstructions pushing against the Eruv string along Brook Road and replaced two broken PVC lechis.

Most repairs were completed Thursday under challenging rainy conditions. Eruv officials said crews will return Friday morning to complete remaining minor repairs and conduct final checks to ensure every section is fully kosher before candle lighting.

Eruv Officials also expressed appreciation to the dedicated team of Eruv checkers and maintenance crews for their tireless efforts and dedication during a particularly busy and weather-challenged week.
