MONSEY: Brush Fire at Monsey Hub Quickly Extinguished by Chaverim Volunteer

At approximately 1:25 p.m. on Thursday, a brush fire broke out at the Monsey Hub on Route 59 near Robert Pitt Drive.

The Monsey Fire Department was dispatched to the scene, but before their arrival, a passing Chaverim of Rockland volunteer spotted the flames and quickly took action, extinguishing the fire before it could spread.

Officials believe the fire was caused by a discarded cigarette. The incident highlights the dangers of improper cigarette disposal, especially in dry outdoor areas. No injuries were reported.
