Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) has once again been recognized as one of the most effective Republican lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives, according to the newly released 118th Congress Legislative Effectiveness Scores from the Center for Effective Lawmaking (CEL) — a joint initiative of the University of Virginia’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy and Vanderbilt University.
In its latest report, CEL named Congressman Lawler the most effective Republican House Member in the policy area of Civil Rights, noting that his Interest & Legislative Effectiveness Score of 191.9 in that category was the highest recorded among all Members of Congress across 21 policy areas.
The ranking builds on CEL’s earlier findings recognizing Lawler not only as one of the most effective Republican lawmakers overall, but also as the most effective freshman Member of the entire House during the last Congress.
In its announcement, the Center highlighted Lawler’s legislative productivity, stating that its analysis “found that Representative Lawler ranked as the most effective Republican House Member in the policy area of Civil Rights in the last Congress… We congratulate the Representative for his hard work and setting an example for promoting the importance of effective lawmaking.”
Congressman Lawler said the recognition reflects his ongoing commitment to results-driven leadership.
“From the beginning, my focus has been delivering real results for the Hudson Valley,” Lawler said. “Whether it’s combating antisemitism, supporting civil rights protections, or advancing bipartisan solutions that can actually be signed into law, my goal has always been to make Congress work the way it should. I’m deeply grateful for this recognition, and I’ll continue fighting every day to deliver for the people of New York’s 17th District.”
