New York State Police, along with local law enforcement agencies, are conducting an intense search in the Woodbury area of Orange County for a suspect wanted in connection with multiple violent felonies committed in New York City.
The chase began in Rockland County and culminated in Orange County, with the suspect, identified as Ali Ali, considered armed and dangerous. Authorities are urging the public to stay vigilant and immediately report any sightings to 911. Officials strongly advise against approaching or engaging the suspect.
Ali Ali is described as a medium-skinned male of Indian descent, approximately 5’5″ tall, and weighing around 180 pounds. At the time of his last sighting, he was wearing a black shirt, black pants, and was barefoot.
The search began after a dramatic incident on the New York State Thruway near Exit 15. On the morning of September 18, State Police Troop T attempted to stop a stolen vehicle, which Ali was reportedly driving. The vehicle crashed and caught fire near milepost 49, north of Exit 16, after which Ali fled into a nearby wooded area.
In response, multiple law enforcement agencies have joined the ongoing manhunt.
Residents in the surrounding areas are urged to check recordings from doorbell and outdoor security cameras. Anyone with footage of a person matching Ali’s description is asked to contact State Police Troop F at 845-344-5300 immediately.
This is a developing situation, and authorities are actively working to apprehend the suspect. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
