Man Arrested for Brandishing Handgun in Ramapo

In a startling incident that unfolded early Saturday morning, on September 9, 2023, at approximately 4:50 am, the Ramapo Police Department responded swiftly to a 911 call reporting a menacing individual. According to authorities, a male suspect had allegedly brandished a handgun and made threatening gestures towards others, prompting an urgent police intervention.

Upon receiving the distress call, Ramapo PD patrol officers immediately sprang into action. They arrived at the scene and, in a matter of minutes, located an individual matching the description provided by the caller. The suspect was swiftly apprehended by law enforcement officers.

Upon conducting a thorough search of the detained individual, officers uncovered a shocking discovery – he was in possession of not one, but two handguns. The immediate seizure of these weapons added a grave dimension to the unfolding situation.

Following further investigation into the incident, authorities identified the individual as a 28-year-old male hailing from Spring Valley. He was subsequently charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, classified as a C-Felony, and Menacing in the 2nd Degree, categorized as an A-Misdemeanor.

The suspect was swiftly brought before the Town of Ramapo Court, where he faced these serious charges and was released pending a future court appearance.
