The Haverstraw Police Department announced that Sgt. Michael Canavan, Officer Brian Prisco, Officer William Lonergan, and Officer Alays Aquino have successfully completed the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Law Enforcement Bicycle Patrol Course. These officers will now join the department’s bicycle patrol unit, enhancing patrol efforts throughout the town, particularly during public events.
In neighboring Spring Valley, the Spring Valley Police Department is also expanding its bike patrol unit. Sergeant Ward, Officer Ricketts, and Officer Guest recently completed the same challenging bicycle patrol course at the Rockland County Police Academy. The newly trained officers will be patrolling the village of Spring Valley, ensuring increased visibility and engagement with the community.
Both departments are excited about the increased mobility and community interaction that bicycle patrols offer.
