Large Tree Falls on Wires, Causing Road Closure and Traffic Disruptions in Chestnut Ridge

A large tree fell onto power lines on Chestnut Ridge Road near Alpine Court, leading to the closure of Chestnut Ridge Road between Old Nyack Turnpike and Scotland Hill Road. Orange and Rockland Utilities have been dispatched to address the situation and restore power.

In addition to the road closure, the fallen tree has caused multiple traffic lights on Route 59 in Spring Valley to malfunction. This has resulted in significant traffic disruptions. Motorists are advised to exercise caution when crossing these intersections until the situation is resolved.

A dramatic moment was captured on a dash camera, showing the large tree collapsing onto the wires on Chestnut Ridge Road. The footage highlights the impact of the fallen tree, which also damaged a transformer.
