Large Brush Fire Erupts Near Rockland Lake, Multiple Fire Departments Respond

A massive brush fire broke out near the Hudson River in the Rockland Lake area early Sunday morning, prompting an extensive emergency response. At approximately 9:15 a.m., Rockland County 911 dispatch began receiving multiple calls reporting the blaze.

Twelve fire departments from across Rockland County mobilized to battle the flames as of 11:30AM, which threatened to spread due to dry conditions and proximity to the riverbank. The responding departments included Blauvelt, Central Nyack, Congers, Hillburn, Hillcrest, New City, Orangeburg, Rockland Lake, Sloatsburg, Sparkill, Stony Point, and Valley Cottage.

Crews worked tirelessly in coordination to contain the fire and prevent damage to nearby properties. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, and investigations are ongoing.
