Representatives from Kol Yisroel met with New York State Assemblyman Aaron Wieder to discuss a range of community issues in preparation for their upcoming trip to Albany, scheduled to take place in January.
Among the key topics discussed was the ongoing busing issue in Rockland County. Kol Yisroel advocated for GPS tracking on all school buses so parents can know, in real time, where their children are and what is happening during their commute.
The discussion also included moving the busing registration deadline from April 1 to June 1, allowing new parents additional time to register, as many are still determining where their children will attend school and where they will be living.
Additionally, they addressed the current state law that permits children to remain on school buses for up to 90 minutes, advocating for an amendment to reduce that maximum time to 45 minutes.
