Kol Yisroel marked its seventh visit to Albany in just three months, continuing its ongoing efforts to advance key legislative priorities and strengthen relationships with state lawmakers.
Led by Shmulie Hartstein, the group returned to the State Capitol to advocate for Bill A10548, legislation that would establish a 100-foot buffer zone outside houses of worship, limiting protest activity in close proximity. The proposal remains a central focus for the organization, which is now working to secure a Senate sponsor to help move the bill forward.
During the visit, Kol Yisroel representatives met with several elected officials, including New York State Senator Erik Bottcher (D–47), New York State Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr. (D–15), New York State Senator Leroy Comrie (D–14), New York State Senator Shelley Mayer (D–37), and New York State Assemblymember Michael Novakhov (R–45).
The group also held additional meetings and participated in a working lunch with New York State Senator Bill Weber (R–38) and New York State Assemblymember Karl Brabenec (R–98).
According to organizers, the day was productive and filled with constructive dialogue and positive engagement with lawmakers from both sides of the aisle.
Kol Yisroel emphasized its commitment to maintaining a consistent presence in Albany, noting that in-person advocacy remains the most effective way to ensure community concerns are heard. The organization plans to continue its efforts in the coming weeks as it works to advance the proposed legislation.
