Israeli Flag Stolen from Clarkstown Town Hall Flagpole: Suspect Apprehended

In a shocking incident that unfolded on Thursday, at approximately 12:15 pm, law enforcement officers swiftly responded to reports of the Israeli flag being stolen from its prominent position on the flagpole at Clarkstown Town Hall. Authorities are investigating the incident, including the possibility of it being classified as a hate crime.

According to a witness who promptly reported the theft, an unidentified male clad in dark clothing was seen forcibly removing the Israeli flag from the flagpole before making a hasty retreat towards Rt. 304. The witness immediately relayed this information to dispatchers, setting off a rapid response from local law enforcement.

Responding officers acted swiftly and efficiently, tracking down the individual described by the witness on Congers Rd., just east of Rt. 304. At the time of apprehension, the suspect was in the process of attempting to conceal the stolen flag within his sweatshirt. Officers intervened, detaining the individual for questioning without delay.

The suspect, a 15-year-old male, was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Clarkstown Police Department (CPD) headquarters for processing. The case has been assigned to the jurisdiction of the JAB – Detectives unit, given the age of the arrestee.

The Clarkstown Police Department remains steadfast in its pursuit of justice and is diligently investigating all facets of this crime, with particular attention to whether it may have been motivated by hate.
