In the early hours of this morning, a driver under the influence lost control and caused a collision on Route 45, in the vicinity of Fastov Avenue. The vehicle struck and significantly damaged an adjacent electricity pole, prompting Orange & Rockland (O&R) utility crews to respond immediately.
Repair efforts are currently underway, and Route 45 is closed between Rensselaer Drive and New Hempstead Road, with authorities estimating the closure to last 8 to 12 hours. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, and the driver was taken into custody at the scene.
