Inferno Consumes Tappan Home on Hamilton Avenue

A fire erupted at 62 Hamilton Avenue in Tappan on December 23rd, 2023, causing extensive damage to a two-story residence. The blaze, reported by a vigilant neighbor at 3:48PM, prompted a rapid response from local firefighters.

Tappan’s Engine 21-2 arrived swiftly, reporting fire on the first floor. Despite their efforts, a primary search yielded no occupants. Additional units were summoned for support from neighboring areas.

The fire was successfully extinguished, and a secondary search saved one cat, while another sadly perished due to smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by local authorities.
