Both nuclear plants at Indian Point have been safely shut down and defueled. This action is a necessary administrative requirement until the Nuclear Regulatory Commission approves a new emergency plan, which is expected to occur later this year. There is no need for the public to take any specific action in response to this siren test.
As part of the coordinated siren test, the Office of Fire & Emergency Services will be conducting a CodeRed (reverse 911) call to residents within the Emergency Planning Zone. This call will serve as a notification about the upcoming siren test and will commence at 8:15 a.m. on June 14th.
