The hulking Sheraton in Mahwah, New Jersey, which has long been a landmark for Monsey families traveling to the Catskills, is likely to be torn down and replaced with warehouses.
The iconic hotel was built in 1986 on 100 acres of land and is located near Routes 17, 202, and 287.
Since 2012, portions of the property were rented out by businesses for office space, but once the Covid pandemic hit, most of those businesses moved out.
The hotel itself is reportedly still producing income, but not enough to justify it continuing, particularly with its current owner seeing high demand for warehouse space.
