In the early hours of the morning, at approximately 4:00 AM, a hit-and-run driver crashed into a utility pole, snapping it and disrupting high-power electric lines. Orange and Rockland Utilities (O&R) quickly responded to the scene to begin emergency repairs. The accident, which took place on Suzanne Drive between Francis Place and Elaine Place, required immediate action to restore power and ensure public safety.
Due to the ongoing work, the road was initially closed. However, thanks to the efforts of Community Askan Yossi Margaretten, the road was reopened as a one-way street, allowing traffic to move from Francis Place towards Elaine Place while repairs continue.
Chaverim of Rockland’s Night Watch units played a critical role in the incident. While on patrol, they spotted a suspicious white pickup truck parked in the middle of a parking lot. Shortly after, a call came in reporting a hit-and-run involving the damaged pole on Suzanne Drive. Night Watch units responded promptly and identified matching parts from the crash scene on the suspicious vehicle.
The police were notified, and after further investigation, it was confirmed that the pickup truck was involved in the hit-and-run. The vehicle was subsequently impounded, and authorities praised Chaverim for their pivotal role in helping solve the case.
Bless them for the work they do and the official disregard they endure by some member members of the government.
