HISTORIC: Leading Monsey Rabonim Give Guidance and Encouragement for the Volunteer Dispatchers of the Monsey Fire District

In a groundbreaking event, leading Monsey rabbonim established a Vaad of Dayanim (a committee of rabbinical judges) to help guide members of the Hasidic community who serve in emergency agencies and organizations on matters relating to Halacha especially for Shabbos. The first public gathering of this Vaad was for volunteer dispatchers of the Monsey Fire District.

The Dayanim provied crucial guidance for dispatchers on Shabbos operations, and the Rabanim lauded their volunteerism that helps improve the response time of the Monsey Fire Department through the Fire District’s newly-implemented emergency hotline and radio system.

This unprecedented gathering took place on Wednesday morning, where nearly 20 new dispatchers received shiurim in Hilchos Shabbos from renowned rabbinical leaders.

The rabbonim in attendance included the Viznitzer Rebbe of Monsey’s Son, Harav Yaakov Yosef Hager Shlita; Pupa Rav of Monsey, Harav Pinchas Chaim Grunwald Shlita; and Satmar Dayan of Monsey (1 Monsey Blvd), Harav Shimon Katz Shlita.

The Dayonim on the Vaad include Viznitzer Dayan, Harav Avrohom Menachem Hager Shlita; Belzer Dayan, Harav Shlome Greenfield Shlita; and Satmar Dayan (1 Monsey Blvd), Harav Hillel Rosenberg Shlita who are all available to be contacted by any member of the community that has Halacha -based questions that relates to their emergency services in fire departments and EMS.

The rabbonim and dayonim provided clear instructions and guidance for dispatching on Shabbos, ensuring that emergency services can respond effectively on Shabbos.
