HILLCREST: Ramapo Police & Rockland County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad Safely Remove Old Munition From Home

On Sunday evening, Ramapo Police responded to a home in the Hillcrest area after a piece of old military ordnance was discovered during a basement cleanout. The device is believed to have belonged to a Korean War veteran who once lived at the residence.

Unsure whether the munition was live, officers requested assistance from the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Disposal Unit. The specialized team arrived on scene, assessed the device using their equipment, and safely removed it without incident.

The situation was resolved quickly and smoothly, with no danger to nearby residents.
