The Hillcrest Fire Department held its highly anticipated Annual Fire Prevention Open House on Sunday afternoon at its headquarters on North Main Street in Spring Valley, drawing an impressive turnout of families and community members.
The event featured live demonstrations and interactive activities aimed at teaching both children and adults about fire safety and emergency preparedness. In one of the highlights of the day, Hillcrest firefighters conducted a controlled building burn, showcasing how quickly a fire can spread — and how fast firefighters work to extinguish it. The dramatic demonstration served as a powerful lesson for onlookers about the importance of prevention and preparedness.
Representatives from Spring Hill EMS, Spring Valley Police, Ramapo Police, NYS Police and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office were also in attendance, engaging with residents and demonstrating various aspects of emergency response. Kids had the chance to meet first responders, explore emergency vehicles, and learn hands-on fire safety skills in a fun and educational setting.
