On Friday, the Hillcrest Fire Company officially retired one of its longtime workhorses, Engine 6-1501. After years of dedicated service as the company’s first-due engine, the 2012 KME Predator has now embarked on a new chapter.
The apparatus was transferred to the Richeyville Volunteer Fire Company in Pennsylvania, where it will continue serving the public and protecting lives.
Hillcrest firefighters reflected on the milestone, noting the countless emergencies and calls the engine responded to during its tenure in Rockland County. While it is always bittersweet to part with a trusted piece of equipment, the department expressed pride in knowing that 6-1501 will see a second life supporting another community’s safety efforts.
