HILLCREST: Driver Crashes Into House On West Eckerson Road, After Fleeing From Ramapo Police, Later Arrested

A driver who allegedly fell asleep at the wheel led police on a brief pursuit before crashing into a house in Hillcrest on Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on West Eckerson Road when police responded to reports of a driver sleeping at the wheel. As officers approached, the driver suddenly fled the scene, eventually losing control and crashing into a house at 94 West Eckerson Road.

Emergency personnel, including Spring Hill EMS, Ramapo Police, Spring Valley Police, Rockland Paramedics, and the Hillcrest Fire Department, quickly arrived at the scene. The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office was also present to assist.

Following the crash, the driver was taken into custody by the Ramapo Police. Authorities have not yet released details on any charges or injuries related to the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
