The Town of Ramapo is calling on residents to help shape the future of their community by participating in the Safe Streets Ramapo and Comprehensive Plan Update surveys. These initiatives aim to improve road safety and guide future development in Monsey, Hillcrest, and Western Ramapo.
During last week’s Ramapo Safety Event at Boulders Stadium, a dedicated station allowed hundreds of residents to complete the Safe Streets survey on-site. The plan, based on the Safe System Approach, seeks to reduce major crashes by 25% by 2030 and eliminate them entirely by 2050. The approach focuses on safer people, vehicles, speeds, roads, and better access to post-crash care.
Crash data from 2017–2023 highlights a concerning trend, with an average of over 43 serious incidents annually. Town officials stress that public feedback is essential to reverse this trend. Even one life lost is too many.
In addition to roadway safety, the town is updating its Comprehensive Plan for unincorporated areas and invites residents, business owners, and stakeholders to share their thoughts on community needs and opportunities.
 Ramapo officials are urging all residents to take a few moments to complete the online survey and give their feedback. Your input is crucial to the success of this project and will help ensure safer streets and stronger neighborhoods for everyone.Â
