Haverstraw Woman Wanted by FBI for ID Theft Arrested at Montvale Hotel Where She Worked as Sales Manager

A Haverstraw woman wanted by the FBI for her alleged involvement in a Florida-based identity theft ring was arrested last week at the Montvale NJ Marriott Hotel near Chestnut Ridge, where she was employed as a sales manager, authorities confirmed.

Jataiya Ashley Johnson, 37, was taken into custody by Montvale NJ Police Officer Matt Zagaja after authorities learned she was wanted on a full-extradition FBI warrant for aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to commit access device fraud—believed to involve stolen credit cards.

Montvale Police Chief Douglas McDowell said the arrest occurred late last week, and Johnson was subsequently transferred to the Bergen County Jail, where she was held on a federal detainer. The FBI took custody of her on Monday, July 7—four days after the arrest.

Johnson is a U.S. citizen, and federal records show she will face extradition to Florida to answer to the charges.
