Haverstraw Police Use Drone Support to Track Suspect and Uncover Stolen Items

The Haverstraw Police Department has been investigating a pattern of larcenies from
unlocked vehicles within the Village of Haverstraw. After identifying a suspect linked to
these incidents, investigators began canvassing the area in an effort to locate him.

On Thursday, November 20, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., plainclothes officers
observed the suspect walking on a public roadway within the Village. Officers on the
ground then coordinated with Haverstraw PD UAV Drone Operators, who monitored the
suspect from above in hopes that he would lead investigators to the location of the stolen
property.

The suspect was observed entering a vacant building in the Village of Haverstraw. Ground
officers quickly responded to the location, where the suspect was safely taken into
custody. After obtaining legal authorization to search the building, officers recovered a
large quantity of stolen property linked to previously reported larcenies.

The suspect, Wellington Remigio, 37, of Haverstraw, NY, was transported to the
Haverstraw Police Department for processing and interview. He has been charged with:
• Forgery 2nd Degree (Class D Felony)
• Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
• Sixteen counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree (Class E
Felony)

This remains an active investigation, and additional charges may follow as property
continues to be identified and returned to its rightful owners.
The Haverstraw Police Department reminds residents to always lock their vehicles and
report suspicious activity immediately. Anyone who believes they may have had property
stolen recently is asked to contact the Haverstraw Police Department at 845-354-1500 to
help ensure recovered items are returned to their rightful owners.
