Haverstraw Police Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of 18-Year-Old for Loaded Firearm

In a routine traffic stop last night, Haverstraw Police officers arrested an 18-year-old male after discovering a loaded firearm in his possession. The incident took place around 10:30 p.m., leading to a series of serious charges against the individual.

The suspect now faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree (a Class C Felony), criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree for an ammunition feeding device (Class D Felony), assault in the second degree (Class D Felony), and resisting arrest (a Class A Misdemeanor).

After his arrest, the defendant was arraigned in the Village of Haverstraw Justice Court and subsequently remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility, with bail set at $60,000 cash or a $70,000 bond. Due to legislative restrictions, the individual’s identity is currently being withheld.

This arrest highlights the Haverstraw Police Department’s continued commitment to maintaining public safety through proactive enforcement efforts.
