The Haverstraw Police Department partnered with North Rockland High School on Wednesday for the impactful “No Empty Chair” campaign, an initiative aimed at promoting safe driving and ensuring students make responsible choices behind the wheel.
As part of the program, emergency responders staged a simulated motor vehicle accident using student role players, offering a powerful, real-life perspective on the dangers and consequences of reckless and impaired driving.
Students also participated in interactive, hands-on activities, including a rollover simulator and the use of impaired driving goggles, designed to demonstrate how alcohol and other factors can affect reaction time and decision-making.
Officials thanked School Resource Officer Lupo for coordinating the event, along with the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Stony Point Police Department, and local fire and EMS agencies for their involvement in making the program a success.
