Haverstraw Police Nab NJ Man Wanted for Garnerville Armed Robbery After Multi-Agency Manhunt

A New Jersey man is in custody following a swift and coordinated investigation into an armed robbery that occurred at a business in Garnerville, New York.

On June 25, 2025, at approximately 9:15 PM, Haverstraw Police responded to a report of an armed robbery. Officers quickly secured the scene and launched a comprehensive investigation. With the assistance of multiple law enforcement partners, authorities identified the suspect as 45-year-old Nelson Morales of Cliffside Park, NJ.

Morales was taken into custody at around 7:00 AM in Orangetown, NY, thanks to the efforts of Haverstraw Police, the New York State Police, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, the Rockland County Intelligence Center, and the FBI–Westchester Safe Streets Task Force.

He is now facing multiple charges, including Robbery in the First Degree (a Class B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D Felony), and Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class E Felony). Following his arraignment in the Town of Haverstraw Justice Court, bail was set at $25,000 cash, $50,000 secured bond, or $75,000 partially secured bond. Morales was remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility pending further proceedings.

“Haverstraw is a community of good, hardworking people,” said Police Chief John Gould. “Anyone who thinks they can come into our town and commit a crime should think again. We will not rest until those responsible are identified, located, and brought to justice.”

Authorities praised the teamwork and collaboration that led to Morales’s arrest, crediting the strong inter-agency partnerships for the successful and safe resolution.
