Haverstraw Police Mourn Passing of Former Lt. John Hickey, 29-Year Department Veteran

The Haverstraw Police Department is mourning the passing of former Lieutenant John Hickey, a respected law enforcement veteran who dedicated nearly three decades of service to the Town of Haverstraw.

Lt. Hickey proudly served the department for 29 years, earning a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the community. Over the course of his career, he rose through the ranks from Patrolman to Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, and ultimately Lieutenant, reflecting the trust, leadership, and respect he earned from colleagues and supervisors alike. He retired from the department in 2017.

Department officials said Lt. Hickey’s legacy of service and dedication will not be forgotten. Thoughts and prayers are extended to his family, friends, and the many current and former members of the department who had the honor of serving alongside him during this difficult time.
