Haverstraw Police Department Maintains NYS Accreditation, Officers Honored for Excellence

The Haverstraw Police Department has once again earned accreditation as a New York State Law Enforcement Agency by the Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), reaffirming its dedication to professionalism, accountability, and excellence in policing.

During the official award presentation, Chief John Gould Jr., Lieutenant James Hansen, and Sergeant Joseph Privitera proudly represented the department. In addition to the departmental recognition, Lt. Hansen and Sgt. Privitera received the prestigious John Kimball O’Neil Certificate of Achievement, awarded to program managers who demonstrate outstanding leadership in maintaining accreditation standards. The award is named in honor of Mr. O’Neil, who played a key role in launching and overseeing the program until 2005.

The department expressed gratitude to the New York State DCJS for the recognition and reiterated its ongoing commitment to serving the residents of Haverstraw with integrity and pride.
