Haverstraw Police Arrest Teen for False Shooting Threat Against North Rockland Schools

Yesterday, the Town of Haverstraw Police Department responded to a potential shooting threat targeting the North Rockland School District. The alarming message, shared on social media, prompted swift action from officers and detectives who immediately launched an investigation.

Authorities were able to trace the post back to its source, identifying the individual responsible as a 16-year-old female from West Haverstraw. After a thorough investigation, the police determined that the threat was baseless. Despite the false nature of the claim, the individual has been charged with making a terroristic threat.

The teen has been released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to face charges in Youth Part of Superior Court.

The Town of Haverstraw Police Department emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safety of students and staff in the North Rockland School District. “We will continue to treat every threat of violence seriously and investigate with all available resources,” said a spokesperson. They also stressed that fear-mongering will not be tolerated, vowing to pursue full prosecution for anyone seeking to disrupt the community.

The department encourages vigilance and urges anyone with information about threats to report them immediately.
