Haverstraw Police Arrest Out-of-State Driver After Loaded Firearms Found During Traffic Stop

A routine traffic stop conducted late Tuesday night led to the arrest of an out-of-state man found in possession of loaded firearms, authorities said.

According to the Haverstraw Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle within the Village of Haverstraw at approximately 10:43 p.m. During the investigation, police determined that the driver, Richard Campbell, 40, of South Carolina, was allegedly in possession of two loaded firearms along with multiple loaded magazines.

Campbell was taken into custody without incident and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was later arraigned Wednesday in the Village of Haverstraw Justice Court, where he was remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Authorities emphasized that, as in all cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Haverstraw Police Department stated that it remains committed to proactive enforcement efforts and maintaining public safety throughout the community.
