A routine patrol by Haverstraw Police on the night of July 24th led to the arrest of a local man wanted on two active warrants—and the discovery of a loaded firearm.
At approximately 10:56 PM, officers observed 32-year-old Daquan Kelly of Haverstraw inside a local business. Recognizing him from prior warrants, police moved in and took him into custody. During a search incident to the arrest, officers found Kelly in possession of a loaded .380 caliber handgun.
As officers attempted to place Kelly into a patrol vehicle for transport to headquarters, he reportedly became combative and resisted arrest.
Kelly now faces multiple charges, including:
-
Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class C Felony)
-
Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor)
-
Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
He was arraigned in Village of Haverstraw Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility.
Haverstraw Police expressed their gratitude to the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office BCI for their assistance in the arrest.
