Haverstraw Police and Good Samaritan Rescue Drowning Swimmer at Emeline Park

A 52-year-old man was pulled from the Hudson River at Emeline Park on Friday evening after Haverstraw Police and a Good Samaritan teamed up in a dramatic rescue.

Police responded to a report of a drowning in progress and, upon arrival, spotted the unconscious swimmer about 100 feet from shore. Officers and the bystander entered the water, reached the man, and brought him to land, where they immediately began CPR and other lifesaving measures. A pulse was restored, and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The incident remains under investigation, and no additional details have been released.
