On October 2, 2024, at approximately 11:45 PM, officers from the Stony Point Police Department responded to a call reporting two suspicious males wearing dark clothing and looking into vehicles in a residential parking lot. Upon arrival, officers located two individuals matching the description provided by the caller. One of them, identified as 21-year-old Ronald Caba Rodriguez of Haverstraw, NY, was subsequently arrested.
During the initial interaction, officers noticed Rodriguez holding a small black object, which was identified as a scale with white powder residue, often associated with drug-related activities. This discovery led officers to conduct a lawful search, during which they found a loaded Ruger .380 semi-automatic handgun concealed in Rodriguez’s underwear. Upon further investigation, the handgun was determined to have been reported stolen earlier this year in Greenville, NC.
Rodriguez now faces several charges, including:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd and 4th degrees
- Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th and 5th degrees
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree
- Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd degree
