HAVERSTRAW: Fire Departments to Conduct Train Derailment Drill This Sunday

On Sunday, June 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the West Haverstraw, Haverstraw, and Thiells Fire Departments will conduct a large-scale train derailment simulation throughout the Villages of Haverstraw and West Haverstraw.

The drill will involve emergency personnel operating in multiple areas including Delloro Street, Joseph Street, Route 9W near Key Bank, Pecks Pond, Robbins Court, and the train trestle/Minisceongo Creek. Drones will also be deployed overhead as part of the training. Delloro Street will be closed at Joseph Street from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Residents may temporarily experience low water pressure or discoloration due to hydrant use during the exercise.
